I stood by the fence minding my own business and trimming the hedges on the well manicured fence. I had roles for each day and Tuesdays was always my day to trim the hedges on the fences. I worked as a gardener at the Mancini mansion; I had done this for about 3 years. My father had worked as a gardener before me and I took over the reins. I never wanted to be like my father; I didn’t want to be a gardener all my life and had been saving for culinary school. The chef of the houses Mrs. Sucre had asked me to help her time and again and from her I learnt a lot. I had good skills and would picture myself as a chef one day.

I was humming to my favorite love song as I went on with my work. I was in a great mood, not because I loved trimming hedges but because it was Tuesday, the day I got a visit from my favorite person in the entire world. I heard her creep up on me as I went on with my work, her scent always sold her out. The designer perfumes could not hide a secret for miles. Her soft steps on the ground was what assured me she was heading my way and my heart took up a loud thudding beat at the thought of her coming closer to me.

I turned just in time to lock my eyes with her and loved the warm welcoming smile that lit her face. She seemed to love surprising me and I in turn loved her mere presence.
